If you are on Facebook for any length of time, you most likely have seen some viral videos about being kind or random acts of kindness. Personally, I think there has been increasing interest in random acts of kindness all over the world. We are all inundated by horrible news. Most newspapers and local news shows are basically the “Doom & Gloom” reports. I actually made a decision to stop watching the news and reading the newspaper because of all of the negative energy displayed. Heck, hearing good news can feel like finding a needle in a haystack.
We, as emotional human beings, have an immense amount of power when it comes to influencing the lives of those around us – much more than we might realize. Check out this great article in Psychology Today, Emotions are contagious. If you go about your day in a nasty or negative mood – complaining or sarcastically remarking upon everything that happens, you are bound to have a negative impact on other people’s day. If you make a conscious effort to be kind, pleasant and project positivity to those around you, you are sure to brighten someone’s day or at the minimum lift someone’s spirit for a few minutes.
Being a better you and lifting up others is basically the main philosophy behind Clerverpedia’s Kindness Challenge. This checklist contains 50 acts of kindness for you to complete throughout the year. You can print it (here’s the printer-friendly version) to keep in your car fora daily reminder. I just learned of it. Despite being 26 days into January, I’m going to get started. I challenge all of my family and friends to take the challenge with me!
